NBA Clutch Player Of The Year Betting Favorite: Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets (+110)
Clutch stats are accumulated in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter when the score is separated by five or fewer points. Under those circumstances, Jokic ranks fifth amongst players in total points scored (99), second in rebounds grabbed (34), and is third in assists distributed (30). He did once lead in all of those statistical categories at one point in time, though, which explains why his lead is dwindling.
In his 91 minutes of clutch time, Jokic is also shooting 56.7 percent from the field and has converted six of his 11 attempts from behind the arc.
NBA Clutch Player Of The Year Contender: Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks (+350)
For what it’s worth, the player who finished with the most total points in clutch situations each of the last two seasons went on to win Clutch Player of the Year. As of now, Young has a pretty sizeable lead in that department with 131 points, followed by Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves at 106.
Young’s 16 3-pointers also leads all players, as do his 29 assists. That’s a resume that’s going to be hard to beat, so don’t be surprised if he ends up surpassing Jokic sooner rather than later.
