Best NHL Player Prop Trends Today: Feb. 24th

The NHL is back in full swing after the 4 Nations Face-Off.

So, I’ve broken down some key NHL betting trends for tonight’s hockey slate. I’ve compiled a bunch of player and team trends with help from Outlier, as well as some NHL prop picks below for February 24th:

February 24th NHL Player Trends

  • Vegas’ Mark Stone has gone UNDER 0.5 goals in 10-straight games against top-10 defenses (No Stone goal, -330 at FanDuel)
  • Vegas’ Alex Pietrangelo has OVER 0.5 shots in five-straight road games (O0.5 SOG, -560 at FanDuel)
  • Vegas’ Jack Eichel has OVER 2.5 shots in seven of his last eight road games (O2.5 SOG, -140 at FanDuel)
  • Winnipeg’s Cole Perfetti has OVER 0.5 points in six-straight games (O0.5 pts, -110 at FanDuel)
  • Winnipeg’s Vladislav Namestnikov has an assist in five-straight games (O0.5 assists, +180 at FanDuel)
  • San Jose’s Fabian Zetterlund has OVER 1.5 shots in five-straight road games (O1.5 SOG, -140 at FanDuel)

February 24th NHL Team Trends

  • The Chicago Blackhawks are 1-11 in their last 12 road games (Utah -235 at FanDuel)
  • The Minnesota Wild are 5-14 on the pickling in their last 19 home games (Detroit +1.5, -200 at FanDuel)

February 24th NHL Picks

Taking the above trends alongside some more in-depth handicapping, here are two picks I’m focused on for tonight’s NHL games:

Vegas’ Alex Pietrangelo OVER 1.5 shots (-106 at FanDuel)

Though Alex Pietrangelo missed the 4 Nations Face-Off for Canada, he’s actually playing pretty good puck right now. He’s logging heavy minutes for Vegas and has at least one shot in seven-straight games. In that stretch, he’s averaging two shots per game.

I expect Pietrangelo to be an even bigger part of the Golden Knights defense (and the power play) with Shea Theodore now out for weeks. He faces a Kings defense that allows just 6.72 shots per game to defenders tonight, but Pietrangelo should still be able to get OVER 1.5 as Vegas’ top D-man.

Jets’ Vlad Namestnikov OVER 0.5 assists (+180 at FanDuel)

Namestnikov has been on a heater lately, tallying seven points (six assists) in his last five games. Despite averaging just 14:58 per game of ice time on the season, he’s been over 15:55 a game in this recent five-game stretch, too. With increased opportunity and performance, he’s the perfect guy to bet on tonight.

Namestnikov also faces a Sharks team tonight that is pretty easy to tally an assist against. They allow the most goals per game in the NHL and, more specifically, the sixth-most assists per game to opposing wingers (1.9 per contest)
