13:20 Mares’ Novices Hurdle
The Mares’ Novices Hurdle can often throw up a surprise, so while Gavin Cromwell’s Sixandahalf looks the right favourite, it wouldn’t surprise me to see something improve. That could be Henry De Bromhead’s Air Of Entitlement 14/1 . He beat Ballybow well at Christmas, who is now well fancied for the Albert Barlett on Friday.
14:00 Jack Richards Novices’ Handicap Chase
Joseph [O’Brien] is a master of getting them right on the big day, as we saw in the Fred Winter on Tuesday, so it wouldn’t be a shock if he had Nurburgring 11/2 ready for the Novices’ Handicap. He’s got solid form and ran in good races over hurdles, so I do expect him to be in the mix.
14:40 Pertemps Final
I’ve said all week that Gavin will have a belter of a Festival and his Will The Wise 6/1 could be very well in, especially over this trip. He’s improved as he’s stepped up in distance and I was taken with him last time. He’ll be competitive, as will the winner of the qualifier at Leopardstown at Christmas, Win Some Lose Some 13/2 , for Padraig Roche. He’s been kept for this race and you don’t have to be a genius to work out this could have been a plan!
15:20 Ryanair Chase
Fact To File 5/4 is the best horse in the Ryanair and I think, barring any mishaps, he’s going to be very tough to beat. He got near Galopin Des Champs this year, so I can see why they’ve chosen this route and it’s not the best renewal of the race.
16:00 Stayers’ Hurdle
If the rain comes, Teahupoo 6/4 is going to be tough to beat, but it might not and that would give Home By The Lee 6/1 the best chance of winning. It’s not overly deep and not a race I’ve delved into too much, but they’re clearly the best two on form.
16:40 TrustATrader Plate
I loved the way Jagwar 4/1 won last time and still think he’s improving for a great training team. He’s the one that is still pretty unexposed and did look graded class last time.
