Despite missing five games with an injury, Nico Collins still cracked the 1,000-yard receiving mark and reeled in seven touchdowns for the Houston Texans.
Most importantly, Collins finished ninth in target rate in the NFL, and third in yards per route run. He also averaged a dominant 10.2 yards per target, and the former Michigan man’s 2.42 yards per team pass attempt finished seventh.
With Stefon Diggs set to hit free agency, and Tank Dell on the shelf with a long term injury, I expect Houston to turn directly to Collins in 2025. That could lead to an historic season, which is what it will take for Collins to become just the fifth receiver to win the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award. If he can remain healthy, Nico has a fantastic shot at the award. Extrapolating his 2024 stats across a 17-game season, Collins was on pace for a 140-target, 96-catch, 10-touchdown performance. Without Diggs and Dell to soak up targets, I’m willing to bet he’ll surpass those numbers next season.
